Our Story

How It All Started

My woodworking story began in high school, back in the year 2000 (cue Conan O’Brien for those who remember). The world didn’t end, and computers didn’t destroy themselves. While the world worried about Y2K, I was entering my junior year and just hoping to find electives that would keep me interested at school. That’s when I signed up for Woodshop, not realizing it would become the most valuable and enjoyable class I’d ever take. I loved it so much that I continued onto Woodshop 2 during my senior year, which took a petition to get into since it wouldn’t fit my schedule normally (thanks Mr. Perpall for having my back!). In fact, the two tables I made back then are still being used today!

Rediscovering My Craft

Fast forward to 2020: the world did basically end, temporarily at least, and we were all stuck at home. With both my wife and I suddenly working from home, our house needed a quick and creative overhaul to make it comfortable and productive. Instead of settling for a basic spare room, we dreamed up a multi-purpose space, and the idea of a murphy bed lit a spark. I decided to build it myself, not just to save money, but as the perfect excuse to finally invest in quality woodworking tools, something I’d wanted for years.

Little did I know that this project would reignite my passion for woodworking. Suddenly all the information that was tucked neatly into the back of my brain came flooding back and I was off and creating something new all the time. That love and passion for creating something from nothing essentially just took over. You could say the rest is history, but from there it has been nonstop, originally just making items for friends and family, but quickly taking on commissioned works once people saw the quality and utility of custom furniture.

Looking Ahead

I am grateful to get to do something I love daily and am constantly looking forward to the next challenge and learning from the next project. I take pride in crafting elevated, quality furniture, pieces that are built to last and designed to be lived with.

Castle Woodworks wouldn’t exist without the support of my wife and our two amazing kids. They’ve been part of this journey from the very beginning and reminding me why I build in the first place. Every piece I make is shaped by that devotion to home, family, and legacy.
